We invite you to participate in „Thermally comfortable and healthy indoor conditions – the challenges of today's built environment” winter school

The winter school will take place on February 17^th to 19^th, 2026 (3-full intensive days) 

A winter school is for those who would like to  understand the principles of healthy building environment and would like to gain practical skills in measuring and analysing indoor microclimate.

• In workshop form you will learn how to assess and improve thermal comfort and indoor conditions!
• Our winter school in an interactive form combines measurement practice, data analysis, and teamwork.
• Get a holistic understanding of indoor comfort and environment quality!
• Visit our laboratories: climate chamber, mechanical ventilation lab, and relax in our green microclimate lab for windowless interiors.

The workshop objective is:

to acquire competences in the measurement, data analysis, and assessment of thermal comfort conditions and selected parameters of indoor microclimate.

• The activities will include experimental work and the analysis of how indoor conditions influences human wellbeing and individual thermal sensations.
• The school also includes introduction to statistical analysis of measurement data and the determination of thermal comfort indices.
• Participants will prepare a report containing the measurement results, analyses, and conclusions, which will allow them to gain a holistic understanding of the topic.
• The winter school is conducted in English.

For whom?

We are looking for university students of BSc, BEng or other 1st level studies (minimum 2nd year of studies) or MSc, MEng or other 2nd level studies in fields related to civil engineering, architecture, environmental engineering, HVAC, renewable energy.

• Recruitment form
• Document confirming the status of a student (student card or any other document proving the student status issued by the University or Department).
• Optional documents confirming English language skills: certificates, proof of language course completion – indicating level, documented completion of the course taught in English, etc.

Additional information:

• In accordance with §4 point 5 of the Recruitment Regulations, Candidates are assessed on the basis of the criteria specified in the Recruitment Form.
• Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel and accommodation.
• Participation in the training is free of charge. Qualified participants will be able to receive funding for travel, subsistence and accommodation costs during the training after the training has taken place. The lump sum rates have been specified in the Beneficiary's Handbook.
